We recently finished a challenging unit in our computer science class at school, so we’re taking a two-class break to watch and discuss The Matrix. I’ve seen the movie a number of times, but here’s something I’m noticing for the first time:
People tell Neo he’s 'the one' and they really believe it. Neo isn’t sure. Then Neo goes to the Oracle, and she tells him, “Sorry kid, you’re not the one.” By the end of the movie (spoiler alert), we all know that Neo is in fact 'the one.'
So why did the Oracle lie to him? She's a genius! She tells him he’s not 'the one' because she knows something about heroes:
No matter who tells us we’re “the one,” we’ll never step into our full power and capabilities until we ourselves start acting like it.
The Oracle then tells Neo: "I wanna tell you a little secret. Being 'the one' is just like being in love. No one needs to tell you you are in love - you just know it, through and through."
You, dear reader, are the hero in your story. You are The One. But me telling you that doesn’t make much of a difference. You’ve got to get it for yourself.
So get it, please. Know it and act like it.
You are the hero in your story, and this post is your call to action.
That stress at work…
That relationship issue…
That target weight goal…
That lack of integrity…
That unhealthy habit…
That insecurity that keeps stopping you…
That fear that gnaws at you…
That next level you’ve been day-dreaming about…
This is your call to take a hero’s action and transform it.

The people in your life are longing for you to wake up to your full capacity to thrive, love life, and experience satisfaction and results befitting the hero that you are.
No one can take the next step for you. That action is only yours to take.
What's helpful for heroes to remember is that our transformation is only partly about us. It's mostly about the people in our lives who will get to experience the gift of an awakened hero.
